Underinsured Coverage and Why You Need it

Typically, when you are involved in an accident caused by another driver, their auto insurance is responsible for covering your personal damages, such as: out of pocket medical expenses, lost wages, lost earning capacity, pain and suffering, etc.  However, many people carry only the minimum bodily injury coverage. In Massachusetts it’s $25,000 per person, and $50,000 per accident.  If you are involved in an accident where you are seriously injured and your medical expenses and lost wages will be very high, the $25,000 in coverage would be all that is available to you unless you have additional underinsurance coverage on your own auto policy.

I have seen instances where there is a very serious injury requiring extended hospitalization and rehabilitation. It is devastating for clients to find out that there is no money to help them get back on their feet.

With 25 years of experience handling these types of claims, as well as previous experience working for an insurance company, I have learned how important it is to find out the answer to these types of coverage questions and act quickly for my clients.  When an Attorney waits, the proceeds can get eaten up by liens and the client is left with nothing but a long road to recovery with no financial help available to them. My goal is to ensure that my clients get the compensation they deserve.
